What to outsource when everything is important
“What’s the first thing I should outsource?
I need a VA who can write, do graphic design, build a website, manage my social media, set up my Amazon store, etc, etc, etc. What should I outsource first?”
STOP.
First and foremost, you’re not going to find a VA who can do all that.
There’s a chance a VA who can do all that does exist, but it’s likely that they’re already working full-time and they’re ridiculously expensive. You’re probably not going to find them.
Regardless of whatever’s on your list of things you need to delegate to your VA, there’s really only one thing that you need to outsource first. The task you should outsource first is the one:
– You are already doing, and
– You know how to teach.
I know you needed all the other things done for your business yesterday.
I know you don’t have time to train someone, that’s why you wanted a rockstar VA who can do everything in the first place.
But by outsourcing a task that you’re already doing and you know how to teach, you’re giving yourself time.
Time!
By training your VA on a task you know how to do, fewer mistakes are going to be made because you know precisely
– how that task needs to be done,
– what good work looks like, and
– the most common mistakes to avoid and how to address them.
This is best case scenario.
Succeeding with a single task with your new VA (or OFS) is the best indicator of future success.
Once they’re good enough to do that task themselves, you’ve gained that time back. That task is off your plate. Move on to teaching them something else you’re currently doing.
I know this isn’t easy.
You might think that training them on a task that you’re already doing isn’t going to gain you much time, just 15 or 30 minutes a day.
I know…”I’m too busy to train someone!”
If you can’t spend 15 minutes training someone, you have a job, not a business.
Build yourself a business.
Don’t build yourself a job.
Next…
What if the administrative work you’re doing isn’t as high value as SEO? (or SMM or design or …)
You’re telling me you’re spending your time on the lowest value task? You’re concerned about what you’re outsourcing when you’re spending your time on the lowest value/hour tasks? Say that again to yourself.
When you don’t fixate on hiring a VA who can do everything, you can finally hire a VA who can do something. Find someone young and hungry. Eager to learn and work in your business. You can find that person at Onlinejobs.ph.
