As I climbed the mountain with my kids on Wild Wednesday my mind went back to the podcast interview I did the day before.

The host:
“So John, my biggest question is what kind of VA should I hire first?  Like, who should I be looking for so I have the biggest impact?”

That’s such an easy one to answer.

So I pulled out my camera and recorded the video as I skied up the side of this mountain.

Hire someone to do something you know how to do and something you can teach them.

No, it’s not the advice most “gurus” will give you on the internet.
But it’s the effective way of
1. ensuring you succeed in hiring someone from a different culture
2. getting something off your plate so you’re better at running the rest of your business
3. getting you ready to hire someone to do something you don’t know how to do.

Yes, you can hire people to do things you don’t know how to do.
But that’s not who you should hire FIRST.
