Finding an Online Filipino Specialist to do marketing work is easy. There are so many people with so many skills. This is really easy.

Finding a Filipino VA for sales is not as common.

Don’t get me wrong, there are many Filipinos who can do sales, but even I can admit, they’re harder to find.

Which doesn’t make sense because there are Filipinos who do sales for a living. They also have insurance agents, real estate agents, car salespeople, etc. There are even call centers full of Filipino VAs working exclusively on sales.

So why is it harder to find Filipinos sales VAs online?

I asked Julia about this. She doesn’t work in sales, but she has VA friends who do. She asked her friend Nick, who works as a real estate VA specializing in sales, and here’s his response:

When it comes to sales roles, Filipinos often face challenges—not because we lack potential, but because of how we are raised and educated. Culturally, we are taught to be modest and avoid confrontation, which can make high-pressure, persuasive sales environments uncomfortable. That said, based on experience, sales is truly a skill—not just a personality trait. It can be taught, practiced, and mastered over time. With proper training, exposure, and the right mindset, Filipino VAs can become just as effective in sales as in any other role. The key is creating the opportunity and support system to develop those skills.

So, based on Nick’s response, it boils down to

1. Sales, as a skill, isn’t something that’s taught in school. They have to seek out sales training on their own.
2. The personality required to succeed in sales often conflicts with their cultural upbringing. There are Filipinos who possess the personality for it, but it’s challenging for their personality to emerge when their culture teaches them to be someone else.

I also noticed that…
3. Sales isn’t seen as a “stable” job in the Philippines because it’s often commission-based. There’s no guaranteed salary, and this scares them away from applying. BPOs address this by providing training, a base salary, and incentives when employees exceed their sales goals.
This is also how we encourage you to structure a sales job.

Even though Filipino sales VAs can be harder to find, Nick’s answer here confirms that with training, you can turn a young and hungry Filipino VA into a rockstar salesperson.

The first step would be to find someone with the right personality. You can use our AI matching tool to make that task even easier.

Next, provide them with the necessary training. Send them books, do it through video, or give them a VAsMadeEasy.com sales course. Give them the opportunity and support to develop their skills.

Lastly, provide them with a base salary that they’ll get regardless of whether or not they hit their targets,

Wouldn’t giving them a base salary make they “lazy” and not work hard enough to meet their targets?

No. Worrying about feeding their family would just make them want to quit and disappear. This is precisely the reason why we don’t allow commission-only job posts on Onlinejobs.ph.

Give them a base salary so they have one less thing to worry about. Push them to do better by giving them incentives when they exceed their targets.

= recipe for success.
