Do you have to train your VA?
“Can’t i buy a training program and pass it on to the VA to implement on my behalf without me having to go through the training myself?”
The best way would be to create training specific for your Filipino Virtual Assistant. You can do this either through live video training or screen recordings.
Does this mean that if you don’t give your Filipino VAs personalized training, they won’t learn anything?
No.
But after having done this for years, I realized that successfully training your VA relies mainly on two things.
1. They need to know that this training is coming from you. This establishes your connection with your VA. The best way is personalized training.
But if you can’t do that, purchased training that they know is coming from you is a close second.
You giving them the training makes them trust you.
– Trust that you care about them.
– That you care about their success.
– That you care about their skills and work quality and future.
2. They need to know that they can ask questions. Your VA wants to be trained, but they’re also afraid of making mistakes. They’re not going to assume that everything in that training is precisely what you want. They understand that your expectations and quality standards may differ from theirs.
Knowing that you’re there to provide guidance reassures them that they’re going in the right direction, the direction that you want.
Even if you’re giving them training on a task you know nothing about, providing feedback and setting clear expectations will help them learn more effectively.
With feedback, you’ll get more than just “the best work possible.”
Feedback gives them the direction they need to deliver the best work tailored to your business.
If you don’t have the time to create your own training, use whatever resource best fits your needs.
If you don’t have them yet, you can use the ones we have available at VAsMadeEasy.com. We created them specifically for Filipino VAs, so it’s easier for them to learn and follow.
***Now…the caveat.
Most training online assumes the decision maker is going through the training.
Your VA is NOT the decision maker. They don’t want to be the decision maker (at least, not in the beginning). They want you to be the decision maker.
So if you’re going to give them training you didn’t create, be sure to let them know you’re available to make decisions or to help them make decisions. Then, make yourself available.
Doing this you
– train your VA
– build your VAs trust in you
– build a relationship with your VA
– show them you care
Training doesn’t have to be painful or difficult. Just make it clear you’re available for when they have questions, and that you’re eager to answer their questions.
