It’s been a few days since Typhoon Crising left the Philippines. I wrote about this last week to talk about how bad it was.
I wish I could say everything’s better now, but there are still parts of the Philippines, particularly in Metro Manila and other urbanized areas, where the impact of this storm is still being felt.
My video editor, Elijah, still doesn’t have any internet or power in his home. I bet some of you are experiencing the same thing if your VAs were in the affected areas.
Why is it that some of the affected areas are having a harder time recovering compared to the rest of the country?
Typhoon Crising was unprecedented in terms of rainfall. It dumped a month’s worth of rain on Metro Manila in the span of four days. The aging sewer system was inadequate in draining away the water. Despite all the Philippine government’s investments in flood mitigation, it still wasn’t enough.

The fact that this all happened in the Philippine capital and so close to the Philippine President’s State of the Nation Address has made it a hot political issue.
Bad for the politicians.
Good for the people.
Usually this means the politicians will act quickly to save face.
If your people are in Manila (or close), ask them how they’re doing.

Sorry that you all are going through this crisis. I’m praying for everyone!
Thank you Joy!
