Give more/better/proper training and 95% of the time you’ll avoid this problem.
Very true.. this is a VERY common problem..
I was aware of this and so I labour the point that they are responsible for put up their hand if they are in trouble. That they can 'give it a go' for a short time but if they spend too long on a problem I will get pi88ed off with them. If they ask, I will love them.
Their job is to make mistakes, learn and move on – fast. Seems to work for me.

In this, I'm just speaking from my experience in doing it for 6 years, and my experience in talking with other people who are successfully hiring Filipino workers.
Everyone has someone who disappears at some point.
Yes, there are lots of people who take numerous jobs (some of my employees now have other jobs…which I'm not too happy about because their productivity has declined).
Yes, there are bad apples anywhere.
I recently hired someone off OnlineJobs.ph. They've been GREAT.
I recently tried hiring 2 people off Odesk.com. Both were disasters.
Obviously, different people are going to have different experiences.
Just trying to provide a little insight.
we have proper trainign for them, always were ready to help them, but mst of the fillipinos who apply for full time job, they are engaged in other jobs not committed with one specific company. So, if anyone tells them to use time tracking software to keep track of their time, they will either disappear suddenly or will leave the job in the middle.
Actually Filipino will work seriously if they are paid exactly as to what is really good for them – You can't expect a good result of you pay them less.

There are lots of sides to all stories, I was just trying to give people one solution.
I love your advice to hire slowly. I think lots of people don't do it.
I also understand that lots of Filipinos are taking on multiple jobs.
The reason for this post was because I've seen, talked with, or emailed hundreds of people hire Filipinos. When there's a problem, more often than not, this is it.
Yes, there are other problems.
This is the easiest one to fix…because YOU control it, and it's easy to control.
A Filipino getting multiple jobs is hard to control.
Giving better training is easy.
I can GUARANTEE that 10 out of 10 is wrong.
I have 3 people who work for me in this price range. They don't have multiple jobs. They are productive for me. They've each been with me for at least a year (one of them over 2 years).
Filipinos are often more interested in feeling important and liked and in feeling like they're doing a good job, than in making more money (this is human nature in general).

I so agree with you Jonas. This is so true. Filipino are not lazy. We work hard because we need to be able to survive. I’ve been a freelance Filipino contractor for almost 5 years and I don’t have any problems with my clients because they train me very well. Proper training is the key for us to excel on any tasks we do. Thanks for sharing a wonderful video! Cool.

I think I have one of those now. He's basically been claiming to look at the code for 4-5 days straight. Sent me a screenshot of something I didn't ask him to do (and wasn't accurate anyway).
I just told him I'm not paying for anything except delivered results. We'll see.
I have had people start off GREAT, with high productivity levels, and later on dwindle to 1/10 (or less) of their original productivity with ridiculous and endless excuses as to why they have slowed down.__I have had one writer plagiarise EVERYTHING she wrote for me. My fault I guess, for not checking until 2 months in, but she was recommended by an excellent worker (see next paragraph) so I stupidly trusted her. She was retained as a writer, and submitted copy and pasted stuff from all over the internet. Nothing was original.
I have ONE DIAMOND in all this. She is a writer and an excellent one at that. She does not work full time, but I take whatever she is prepared to do.
I think I have had about 9 workers in total. I am currently tolerating 2, and I have the 1 diamond mentioned above. The others have either disappeared or I have fired them (2 come into this, for misconduct and gross unreliability and very little productivity).
There was one who I think was genuine but very slow, who I was probably a little hard on. I learned from that.
