I’m not a systems guy.
I’m a get started now guy.
I don’t need a lot of planning and preparation to start projects. I don’t need things to be organized before starting.
I want it started NOW.
This infuriates a lot of people when they ask me for plans, templates, protocols etc….
“How can I, or how can anyone, hire an OFS and avoid making mistakes?”
The thing is, I don’t avoid mistakes.
I fail.
A lot.
I make a lot of mistakes. I fix them and move on.
That’s what I did when I hired my first and 40th OFS (and every one in between).
I hire and do my best. When I run into a problem, I fix it.
I didn’t wait for a perfect, fool-proof process before hiring someone because there’s no such thing. If I had waited for perfection, I’d still be waiting. Instead I now have almost 20 years of experience.
No matter how much planning and organization you do before you hire someone, it will never be perfect. You will make mistakes. You will run into problems. The only thing that matters is how quickly you fix things and learn from them.
That’s why I always tell people to hire someone, anyone. You can’t anticipate everything that can go wrong. The only thing you can do is to fix the things that do go wrong and make sure you don’t make the same mistakes again.
Yeah, having problems sucks, but when you get it right, wow is it worth it.
Obviously, some problems or challenges are more common. I cover those at OneVAAway.com. If you use it you’ll avoid most of the mistakes people make. The mistakes I made.
But you don’t have to use OneVAAway.com (I didn’t use it when I hired the first, or second, or 15th times…it didn’t exist). You can just create an employer account at Onlinejobs.ph and put up a job post. Do that one thing today to change your life tomorrow.
Don’t wait for perfection. It will never come.
