“How do we making hiring a VA easier?”

It’s the question I ask myself every day.

Most of the work we do behind the scenes at OnlineJobs.ph goes unseen, so I thought I’d pull back the curtain today and let you in on a few things.

Things we’ve been working on to improve your experience.

1. Messaging – after testing for a long time, last week we finally released a major upgrade to the messaging experience. You get a lot more data at your fingertips. It’s faster, smoother, and flows more intuitively. Rate applicants, add notes, see contact info, sort by labels, and mark as hired. All from your messages.
Also, applicants/messages are now grouped by job post.

2. AI matching – This hasn’t been announced yet, and you won’t find it listed among our features yet, but last week we added the ability to have AI analyze all applicants to your job posts and tell you who to hire. Ok, it doesn’t tell you exactly who to hire, but it does 90% of the work for you, leaving you to just interview the top few and make a decision. It’s better than we thought it could be. I’m so excited about this. We’re able to give the AI all the data we have available, and a bunch of data that we’ve never made available. It’s analyzing things you would have a hard time analyzing, and doing it all really really well.
Only available on a Premium ($99) account, but it’s available right now. Go into your messages and click “AI Analyze Applicants”.
More of this to come…but it’s already amazing.

3. Community filtering of bad employers
Did you know that 1 bad employer affects all employers?  One bad employer gets talked about and passed around. It makes other VAs hesitant and cautious.
We’re now letting workers report bad employers on OnlineJobs.ph.
Sounds trivial. It’s not.
When you’re legit and someone else is a bad actor, removing them makes you stand out, and you get better applicants. When workers know a job post is from a legit employer, they take applying more seriously.
Job post reporting is now live (we’re getting hundreds of reports every day and removing a lot of bad job posts).

4. Jobseeker search results
We’ve been changing our search significantly.
A. you’ll find generally better results
B. we allow you to search just profile titles, or also profile descriptions. Generally, searching just titles yields better results.
C. We’re pushing down jobseekers who are marked as hired. You typically don’t want to hire someone who already has another job, and you don’t want your people showing up in search results (click “Mark as Hired” when you hire someone!). We give you the option, but we default to not showing people who are already hired.
All of this adds up to easier finding the right, talented person to interview and hire.

Some of this isn’t “Wow, that’s amazing!”. But it marks a significant amount of work and incremental improvements (or, in the case of AI Matching, huge leaps) toward you finding the right people faster, with less effort, and fewer mistakes.

We’ll keep working. You keep building.
