I got this email from Katie. I don’t get emails like this often, but I wanted to feature it because I think it’s helpful when you hire an Online Filipino Specialist from Onlinejobs.ph. I think this feature can also help a bit with the issue of workers having multiple full-time jobs.
My OFS asked me to “unhire” her on your platform so she can get more work. She is only working 10 hours per week so I’m fine with her finding more work. Can she really not get more work unless I “unhire” her even though she’s still working for me? Please advise.
Katie
To start, this is a good example of communication between an OFS and her employer.
Katie can only hire her OFS part-time. She knows her OFS needs more work to support herself. The OFS is honest about her need to find more work.
But there’s no need to “unhire” so that she can get another job. The only possible detriment to the “Hired” mark is that employers will ask her whether she’s already working for someone else.
When you hire a worker through Onlinejobs.ph, you can mark them as “Hired Full-Time” or “Hired Part-Time.”
When they’re no longer working for you, just remove the “Hired” mark.
Marking workers as “Hired” (or “unhired”) is always available to you once you’ve upgraded at some time in the past, even after you cancel your subscription.
When you mark a worker as “Hired,” you will get a notification when another employer hires them.
Other employers will see this mark on their profile, so they’ll know whether they can still hire this person or only hire them part-time.
Can the OFS you hired remove this mark on their own? Yes, but you’ll also be notified when they do it.
Can the OFS you hired ask us to remove the mark? No. Only you and the OFS can remove that mark. And you’ll be notified.
Now, to the question, “Should I remove the “Hired” status of my worker?”
For me, I wouldn’t.
Not if they’re hired part-time or full-time.
The use of tools, such as Timeproof and Easypay, relies on that “Hired” status. If you are using those tools, you should not.
I want those who work for me to be open and honest about their work life.
If they’re working for me, I want to know what other jobs they’re taking on. It’s a good gauge of what their life is like. It’s a good gauge of if we’re paying enough. It’s a good gauge of their spending habits.
I’m not going to forbid someone from taking on more work. But knowing what’s going on is a big deal. Other employers knowing what they’re getting into when hiring someone is also a big deal.
Use “Mark As Hired”.
