I got this email from Lynda where she shares a problem I think most of you have once you’ve hired an Online Filipino Specialist.
John,
What if you can’t train the VA, do you have a program to do that?
I feel overwhelmed.
Thank you.
Lynda
The short answer is to just go to VAsMadeEasy.com.
Find the training you need and just give it to your OFS. Don’t give all the training at the same time, give them one training at a time. Let them get used to working on a task before adding another.
I know you’re probably wondering why I just told Lynda that she could just give her OFS a course she purchased from VAsMadeEasy.com. Isn’t it hypocritical, considering that I often tell people to train their OFS. I make a big deal about training in several newsletters:

Yeah, it’s better if you can train your OFS. That’s when you and your OFS learn how to communicate with each other. That’s where you learn how to manage and work with them.
But there’s more to it than that.
You don’t have to hold their hand through the whole thing. When I train my OFS, I just give them the video. The important thing is that they know that they got that video from me. I’m the one who gave them that training, not anybody else.
This is where trust is built.
They want to know you’re willing to train them.
That you care about their success.
I also make it a point to follow up after they get the training. I ask a bunch of questions once they’re done watching the video, like:
– What did they learn?
– What confused them?
– Can they confidently implement what they learned?
– Do they need more training?
All of this, I do through email.
So, if you’re like Lynda, stop worrying about training taking too much time.
Just go to VAsMadeEasy.com and give it to your OFS. Follow up and ask your OFS questions.
They’ll still feel you trained them, even when you’re not there to actually train them.
